Fall 2022 Trend Predictions

Fall 2022 Trend Predictions

Leave it to me to be daydreaming about fall fashion in the heat of the summer, melting under my prematurely-grabbed sweaters, flannels, and cargo pants. When it comes to fashion, I feel as if I’m always planning a season ahead, and currently I’m wondering what I’ll be wearing during the autumn months instead of soaking up the last few weeks of summer warmth.

Don’t get me wrong, summer fashion has its perks, but fall allows for more layering, fun jackets, and cold weather accessories. I always love utilizing transitional pieces as we move into the colder months. Plus, I’m excited to bring out my Ugg boots again for those cooler days! While I’ve had a bit of a hard time putting my finger on what the trends will be this autumn, I do have a few ideas. Let’s get into them!

big rainboots:

I would never expect that I would be hunting for a pair of oversized galoshes, but alas, I’ve been on the hunt nonetheless. I love the way that these look with mini dresses— the contrast between the utilitarian style of the boots with the girlishness of the dresses create such a fun outfit. I’ve also been seeing boots like this styled with shorts and oversized blazers. Even though these boots are a statement piece, they have a versatility when designing transitional outfits. While I wish I could afford the Ganni rainboots, I have my eye on a more affordable pair from ASOS.

quilted everything:

Quilted items have been on-trend for a while now, but I think they’re here to stay. Specifically, I have my eye out for quilted jackets and vests. Perhaps I’m impartial, as my mom, grandmother, and I all quilt, but I’ve been seeing quilted pieces everywhere. I recently picked up a quilted jacket from Zara that I think is going to be a great transitional piece as we move into the colder months. I love the way that these pieces look layered over sweatshirts, tees, and even overalls. I tend to only wear color in the summer and stick to neutrals in fall and winter, but I think this jacked will encourage me to bring some color into my fall wardrobe.

overalls:

Speaking of overalls… I’m predicting a surge in the overall obsession this fall. Everyone has been loving the Dickies and Carhartt pants, and I sense that the Carhartt overalls might take the stage this upcoming season. I recently picked up a pair of pinstripe overalls from Carhartt (serving train conductor, perhaps?) and I have been obsessed with them. Actually, obsessed might even be an understatement. Overalls are excellent for layering— you can pair them with a shirt and throw over a jacket, you can throw a sweatshirt over them and style them like pants, or you could even wear a sweater under the overalls for a warm look (one of my personal favorite styles). Overall (haha, get it?), I could see this fashion piece taking center stage this fall.

clogs:

Birkenstock Boston Clogs have held the fashion girlies under a tight grip for the last few months, and I must say, I have had my eyes on them for a while. My incessant need for originality has kept me from purchasing them so far— for whatever reason, I simply have to be unique. I have been searching for a similar pair with a slightly different look for a while, and I recently found them— the Aro sandal from Shop Peche. I especially love the back strap, and I can’t wait to style these with fun socks as the weather gets cooler. I also love the look of the fur-lined Birkenstock clogs— again, great for cooler weather!

fun glasses:

Okay, maybe I just want glasses to be in style because my vision is horrible, but I have been loving fun, funky glasses as accessories. I spend a lot of time at work in front of a computer, so I recently picked up these gorgeous blue light glasses from Warby Parker. They also make prescription glasses, and can even make glasses just to wear as an accessory. I have a lovely green pair without my prescription that I sometimes wear to elevate my look. You can also find funky vintage frames at thrift stores if you want to accessorize this fall.
